Valentina Casadei was born in Ravenna (Italy), in 1993. She graduated in Cinema History at the Dams University in Bologna. Later she moved to Paris where she achieved a Master in Screenwriting and Directing at Eicar. She completed the Atelier Scénario 2021 at La Fémis in Paris, under the supervision of Jacques Akchoti. 

"Giusto il Tempo per una Sigaretta" (End of September), her first professional short film, is produced by First Child Productions and received fundings from the Emilia Romagna Film Commission and the City of Bologna, in Italy. It had its premiere at El Gouna Film Festival and has been selected in the 46th Oscar® Qualifying Odense International Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Screenplay.

She currently works for the CNC (first short films committee) and the Grand Est Region (short films committee) as a reader, teaching Screenwriting at Eicar and working on new projects, including the development of her first feature film, "L'Enfant Seul" (The Lonely Child), produced by Les Films de la Capitaine & Kalpa Films, and the post-production of her next short film, "Ronde Nocturne" (Night Shift), produced by Dublin Films with the support of the City of Paris and the Procirep-Angoa. Her work focuses on family ties and marginality. 

 

She has published six collections of poems.
