Valentina Casadei (1993) is an Italian screenwriter and director. She graduated in Film History from Dams in Bologna, in Filmmaking from Eicar, and attended the Screenwriting Lab 2022 at La Fémis in Paris, under the supervision of Jacques Akchoti.
Her first short film, “End of September” (15 min, Italy, 2020), produced by First Child, with the support of the Emilia Romagna Film Commission and the City of Bologna, has been selected at the 46th Oscar® Qualifying Odense International Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Screenplay. Her latest short film, “Night Shift” (19 min, France, 2024), produced by Dublin Films, with the support of the City of Paris in collaboration with the CNC and the Procirep-Angoa, has just won the Pelliconi Award for Best Short Film at Visioni Italiane.
Represented by Lizzie Sebban (UBBA), she currently works for ARTE, the CNC and TV7 as a reader (short films committee), teaching Screenwriting at La Sorbonne and at Eicar, and working on new projects, including the development of her first feature film, “The Lonely Child”, produced by Les Films de la Capitaine & Kalpa Films. Her work focuses on family ties and marginality.
She has published six collections of poems. Her latest, “Sans Toit Ni Toi,” under development, won the CNL Discovery Grant.
